Holly
came to me from Australia at 9 months of age. She
was a bit skiddish from the start but we hoped she would
come out of it. She did to some degree, however
she was never real fond of children. Holly and
I were pals,
she didn't like the leash too well but we worked on
it and she has come around well. Holly came to
me while we lived in Hawaii. I imported her after
Nani had to be fixed due to ovarian cysts. Holly
was brought over to be my broad bitch, which she did
very well.
Holly was never
a big toy player but she was finally coming around and
liked the frisbee, it was a trip to get it back sometimes
but she did oh so love to chase it! She
was the domant female in all aspects and wasn't too
pleased when I brought in the newer additions of Mia
and Jasna but she dealt with it. She and Warry
had a great bond and did play well together.
I was able
to show Holly at a few ARBA and International Dog shows
and she did okay. She wasn't too keen on being
on the table, she didn't mind the ring though. I
wish I could have trained her in agility as she would
have been great!
Holly had her
first litter in Hawaii in October 2005 whelpming 5 puppies,
4 boys and 1 girl. She was a great mom! Her
second litter was here in Texas and she whelped 6
puppies in August 2006, of which I lost one, Koda Bear
at 6 weeks of age. She was much more protective
of her pups this time around and did not respond well
to anyone but me being around her puppies. Because
my children help me rear the puppies I could not afford
any risks. She was usually out of the room when
the girls helped me weigh the puppies and play with
them each day. I found Holly a wonderful new home
in the Dallas area with a great lady, Doris, who's
children have all grown. She had been praying
for a Japanese Spitz and just knew she couldn't do a
puppy, so when Holly came available, she was thrilled. Holly gave
Doris quite the run around when she first arrived, a
good few months of some serious testings, but she has
finally settled into her new life. She has been
spayed and this has helped her. We think she was
having a hormonal imbalance. She goes for daily
walks and and plays outside often, she sits at Doris'
feet when she is working on her childrens literature
or other projects and has her own bed right next to
Doris. They are quite the pair these two! I
am so pleased that it has all worked out for both of
them!
