Toby earned his UKC show champion title after completion of 4 great shows!  Toby did great!

CH Charming Cute Norwegian (Jasna) earns first UKC Champion title for the breed.  Award earned February 27, 2007.

Jasna has done me proud!  She is the first Japanese Spitz to earn their UKC Champion title!  She's doing great.  Now just need 2 additional champions to compete for their Grand champion titles!  I can't wait for there to be more of us out there to compete!!!

flower05_blue.gif JAPANESE SPITZ CLUB OF THE USA

The club was founded in 2005 by three of us here in the US in hopes of gaining recognition of the Japanese Spitz in the United States.  Presently the Japanese Spitz is considered a rare breed and is registerable with the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) and as of October 2006, the United Kennel Club (UKC).  The club continues to petion the American Kennel Club (AKC) to gain recogntion of the breed so we as breeders may also be able to export our dogs for breeding and not just for pets.   I am especially interested in AKC recognition as I would love to show at CRUFTS in England and it requires our dogs to gain titles through the AKC.   Other countries do not recognize ARBA nor the UKC as registering bodies for the US so the AKC continues to be our goal.  Our biggest hurdle is that even though the AKC does recognize that the Japanese Spitz and the American Eskimo are indeed two separate breeds the similarities in looks between the two holds us up.

flower05_blue.gif  JAPANESE SPITZ GAINS UKC RECOGNITION.

The Japanese Spitz Club petitioned the UKC in October of 2006 and effective October 18, 2006 we were granted admission into the UKC.  The Japanese Spitz may now be shown at all UKC sponsored events for agility, obedience and confirmation and all our dogs and litters are registerable with them.

 UKC

     Texas Classic 2008, Huto, TX.

Katrina of Kiraleea JS Kennels came down from Wisconsin for our annual meeting and we attended the Texas Classic January 25-27, 2008!  What fun we had.  Orlando came down with her and her did awesome, he won the breed for all four shows and took Group 2 for two shows and Group 3 for two shows.  Toby did awesome as well as he took Champion class for all four shows!  We had a great time, the AE Club is an awesome host club - lots of great prizes in addition to ribbons ; )

Kelsi joined in on the fun as well, she came up on Saturday and did Junior Showmanship in addition to helping me show Jasna in the ring.  She did great and had a blast!

TOBY WINS HIS UKC CHAMPION TITLE!

Our third UKC show July 21-22, 2007... oh the fun we had... Toby in show 2 beat out the American Eskimo for Group!!  What a major feat for the breed!  He performed excellent and we had so much fun.  Kelsi joined me for this show and she showed Jasna and did very well in both her shows!  I was very proud of her!  Jasna did very well at the show too!  She earned her Champion of Champions for each of the four shows.  Toby however was the big winner of this show as he beat out even Jasna for Best of Breed.  He really is doing well in the show ring!  They can each move on to compete for their Grand Championship title which requires 3 champions in the ring... need one more champion... come on Warry boy!

Toby's litter mates are doing excellent through-out Europe as well.  Poppy, his sister just won her 4th major show.  This has been one great litter!  I guess having the JS Best of Breed at Crufts for 3 years running for a dad must have something to do with it  : )   I'm looking forward to seeing just how far we get with Toby here in the states!

Jasna - Show 1-4  Champion of Champions

Toby - Show 1-4  First place, Best Male, Best of Breed, Group 1 (show 2), Group 2 (show 4) and Group 3 (show 1 & 3)

JASNA IS THE FIRST UKC CHAMPION FOR THE BREED!!!    TOBY WINS BEST PUPPY IN SHOW!!!

flower05_blue.gif   Our second UKC show was February 24-25, 2007... oh my goodness what fun.  Other than our long show on Sunday due to a judge backing out at the last minute on the club it was good.  The dogs performed well and we had some good competition in the Northern Breed Group - 4 different breeds were there!  On day one I only entered Jasna and Toby two Mia joined in on the fun too.   They all did great!  I'm very pleased with their performance, have some things to work on but overall the dogs are doing great.  Toby really shinned this weekend as the judges took notice of him and our breed!  I had a judge whom was not judging whom asked me about the breed, she wanted to know all she could so when she was in the ring judging she'd know all the differences between the AE and the JS.    I look forward to seeing her in the ring judging the JS's she really wanted to know from those of us who own and breed the dogs, not just read a standard.  I was very impressed!!

Both the girls showed this weekend as well.  Kelsi did all four shows and Jordan did the final days two shows.  Jordan is really doing well, she's won two more First place Novice Junior Handler awards!  She now has a total of 4 first place wins.  Now to get her into a few handlers classes so she can answer all the questions that the judges will ask of them when she's out of Novice!  Kelsi did well too, they do not place them at that age so it's just participant awints the win must be with competition either within the breed, or at group level in which you place over at least one other dog.  Jasna finally earned her wins with competion in Show 3 earning her title of UKC Champion!  So here areards, but we had one judge that had forgotten and started to place them, Kelsi would have taken second out of four participants : )   They're enjoying themselves and that's what counts!

Jasna - Show 1 & 3  -  First Place, Best Female, Best of Breed, Group 4.  Show 2 & 4 - First Place, Best Female, Best of Breed, Group 3

     Mia - Show 3 & 4 - First Place -, Reserve Best Female

Toby - Show 1 - First place, BEST PUPPY IN MULTI-BREED SHOW.   Show 2 & 4 - First place.  Show 3 - First place , RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN MULTI-BREED SHOW.

flower05_blue.gif My first UKC show was in Hutto, TX January 20-21, 2007 and I must say it was a blast!!  We were welcomed into the show with open arms by all!  The American Eskimo Club of the Southeast hosted the event and they were so wonderful.  We sat and compared our two breeds to truly see if we could see the differences between the two and we all saw it!  It was great.   The judges at the UKC show were also knowledgable and knew the breed, which was such a nice treat!  Finally judges who knew the standard and not the day off looking over it.  I was only able to show Jasna and Warry as Mia came into season and I didn't want to put her in the ring that way.  They did great too.  We had 3 shows over the weekend total, as I was unable to attend Friday afternoons show they offered.  Here are the results...

Jasna - For Show 1 and 2:  First Place, Best Female, Best of Winners  and Group 3.  For Show 3:  First Place, and Best Female.

Warry - For Show 1 and 2:  First Place, and  Best Male.  For Show 3:  First Place, Best Male, Best of Winners, and a Group 2 win!

flower05_blue.gif Jordan and Kelsi also got into the act by showing at the Jr. Showmanship portion for Show 1 and 3.  The UKC offers Jr. Showmanship for EACH show which is truly treat!  The more experience the better!  Kelsi is in the sub-junior level so the judge talks to them about how to handle their dog, how to show them, and asks them questions about their dog.  They receive a particiapation ribbon at the end and their dogs receive a toy : )   Jordan competed in the Junior Novice division and received 2 first place wins.  The last judge we had was extremely helpful as she truly took the extra time to teach the kids something, she talked about the sandwich, keeping their eyes on her often, knowing about their dogs - parts of the animal as well as the breed and what they were bred for, how to hold the lead, how to show the teeth etc.  All the things I've tried to teach them but seems to go in one ear and out the other, she was able to tell them and now they listen : )  The girls are set to show with me again in February at our next UKC show for all 4 shows ; )  Two more first place wins and Jordan moves out of Novice level!  The judges told me they see her going far in showing so I'm very excited and hope she will continue.   In Show 1 Jordan showed Warry for me while in Show 3 Kelsi showed Warry for me, they did a great job in the ring too!  I'm very proud of both of them.

ARBA                                                             flower05_blue.gif  March 2007 - Lone Star Classic  Hutto, Texas

Jasna took Winners Bitch, Best of Breed and Group 1 for all four shows

Toby took First Place Puppy, Best of Breed Jr Puppy, and Puppy Group 1 for all four shows

My family didn't join me on this trip so I have no photo's of this go round.  It was an interesting show.  The judges are beginning to learn our breed more.  Plan to put together a seminar for them with a packet and do a hands on demonstration so they know what they should be looking for.  Many of these judges judge at the UKC and/or the AKC so the more information we can get out there the better!

flower05_blue.gif  October 2006 - Windy City Classic Chicago, Illinois

Warry took Resevere Winners Dog in 3 of 4 shows

Jasna took Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite for 3 of 4 shows

Holly: 1 Winners Bitch, 1 Best of Opposite

Jordan took 1st Place for Junior Showmanship and Kelsi took 2nd Place

International Dog Show

Can't wait for our next show June 28-29, 2008 here in Texas!  We're looking forward to having some good times!  The girls are planning to show along with me so it should be a lot of fun this weekend!  Hoping to show Toby, Izzy, and Jasna at this one!   Hopefully their coats hold up and come in as the case is for Izzy!

flower05_blue.gif  July 2006  Hutto, Texas.

Warry:  4 Winner's Dog, 4 Best of Breed, 1 Group 3 - Earned International Title

             Mia:  3 Winner's Bitch, 3 Best of Breed, 2 Group 3's - Earned 3 SG1's

             Jasna: 1 Winner's Bitch, 1 Best of Breed - Earned 3 SG1's

Jordan took excellents for Junior Showmanship Novice and Kelsi didn't do too bad either.   Jordan has shown great promise in the ring.  In fact she showed Mia following her showing for Junior showman and went on to beat Jasna and Warry for Best of Breed.
